Phase Two – Orthodontic Treatment

The second phase of orthodontic treatment begins after the resting phase where adequate room has been created for your child’s permanent teeth to erupt naturally. Phase Two focuses on achieving a functional bite and straightening your child’s teeth which in turn improves your child’s smile and dental health.

The first stage of this orthodontic treatment includes the use of several orthodontic appliances like palatal expander and a partial set of dental braces for correcting common oral issues like:

Difficulty In Chewing Due To Bite Issues

Untimely or Delayed Loss of Teeth

Protruding Teeth

overbites-&-underbites

Overbites and Underbites

Anterior Cross Bites and Posterior Crossbites

These are common dental problems but complicated and costly to correct at a later stage in life. So, if you want the best results for your child’s orthodontic treatment, then the right time to bring them is when their teeth are erupting naturally.

What is Phase Two Orthodontic Treatment?

Depending on your child’s unique orthodontic needs, your child may be prescribed partial or full braces in the upper or lower teeth during the second phase of the orthodontic treatment. If your child has had his/her interceptive orthodontic treatment at Brite Orthodontics, then the second phase will be much faster and easier even with braces.

We offer different types of braces and clear aligners depending on your child’s oral needs and your budget. Our orthodontic services include traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, and clear aligners like 3M™ Clarity™ Aligners and Invisalign® for teens.

The second phase of orthodontic treatment is ideal for children between the ages of 11 and 15 and it usually lasts for about 12-20 months. Retainers are typically worn by children after the second phase to maintain the enhanced smile.
